Food Drive while shopping Florida First

January 2020, collection baskets for non-perishable food are located at four unique consignment shops on Main Street in the Village of Florida. Donated food is destined for Florida Community Food Pantry at the end of the month.

“Generosity is year-round,” said Cheryl Petersen, co-owner of Random Acts of Consignment with her husband, Doug.

Food can be left at Random Acts of Consignment, Back in the Game, BP Sports Cards and Memorabilia, and The Eclectic Eye.

Consignment shops provide public space for communities to reuse and repurpose. Consignors supply inventory for shoppers looking for products that are funky, simply practical, or rare.

“It’s neighbors working together, because higher quality items have more than one life or they improve with age,” said Petersen. “When something is no longer used or is outgrown, consignment shops move it forward for further use.”

Random Acts of Consignment offers coats, gloves, tops, pants, dresses, bags, jewelry, and shoes for women, men, and juniors, along with handcrafted new products created by local artisans.

Back in the Game offers sporting equipment and gear. BP Sports Cards and Memorabilia offers cards and gaming. The Eclectic Eye offers household goods and antiques.

“The shops are full of soul. It’s like browsing attics or closets, rich with adventures and stories,” said Petersen.

As for parking in the Village of Florida, look for the signs. Florida has lots of free municipal parking behind the stores.
